I thought I had a plan | Dav & Shy, We write I thought I had a plan – Dav & Shy

I thought I had a plan

You know the one that most people have:

  • Get a degree
  • Have a job
  • Have a house
  • Get married
  • Have children

I thought it was that simple.

But actually it’s not.

Happiness in life is not a one-size-fits-all.

And nope… Money is definitely not the answer to happiness. I agree it contributes to it but it’s not the ultimate answer.

For me, I realized this when I was earning more than enough money to do whatever I wanted. I was spending without counting, traveling in many countries, going out with friends at least twice a week and I would shop online to buy clothes I ended up never wearing.

Now I’m living a more simple life as a stay-at-home mom…

And I’m happier that way.

As opposed to my corporate life, I’m tracking every penny we’re spending and I’m always controlling our budget whenever we go out to a restaurant or at the groceries.

I understand how this could bother some people but for me it’s fun 🎉 I enjoy working daily on our budget spreadsheet and knowing that the numbers are correct 🤑

It makes me feel in control and it soothes my mind 🧘‍♀️

What are my plans now?

To be honest, I don’t have one.

All I want is to live a happy life with Davidson, Ellie and our new baby to come.

One thing we’re still working on though is to achieve financial independence.

There’s not really much of a plan except than: spend less than what you earn.

And so far, no problem with spending less but we were struggling with the earning part 😂

Although, now I feel confident that things are finally on track thanks to many years of self-introspection and trying different things.
